Important updates to LocalPlus® markets
Effective April 1, 2019
The LocalPlus® network is a narrow network of quality local doctors and hospitals, built to help drive affordability and value. We regularly evaluate our networks to ensure they offer members access to quality care at a competitive cost, and a balance of access and value.
We are pleased to announce the expansion of the LocalPlus market to additional counties in northern California, and the introduction of LocalPlus providers in King and Pierce counties in Washington, effective April 1, 2019.
What you need to know:
The following market change will take effect April 1, 2019:
- Northern California – the northern California market will be expanded to include the counties of Marin, Napa, San Joaquin, Sonoma, and Stanislaus.
- Washington (Seattle area) – LocalPlus is also now available in King and Pierce counties in Washington.
How these changes impact you and your clients:
- Residents in the counties listed above will now have access to the LocalPlus network.
- Service rendered by providers within the LocalPlus geography who are not contracted with LocalPlus, will be considered out of network for LocalPlus customers.
- The LocalPlus Zip Code file will be updated to reflect these changes.
- Our LocalPlus marketing materials are being updated to reflect these changes, and will be available in the Digital Marketing Toolkit and Operations Toolkit in the coming weeks.
- Provider directories on myCigna.com and Cigna.com will also be updated.
What you need to do:
- Your Business Development Lead will send you the updated Zip Code file as soon as it is available. You will need to use the new file to determine who is eligible for LocalPlus and who is not.
- Use updated marketing collateral to be sure it reflects the latest market information.
- Encourage members to use the provider directories available on Cigna.com or myCigna.com to find in-network LocalPlus providers.
Thank you for your attention.
