August means its time to send your kids back to school, and its a good time to set them up for success all school year long! Summer is over and no doubt some bad habits have formed like going to bed late and eating junk food. Here are some tips to kick start the year on the right foot!
- Take the time the first day to introduce yourself to someone new, or make a new friend.
- Make sure to get enough sleep, anywhere from 8-11 hours of sleep is needed for children to be their best selves
- Eat a healthy breakfast, that means no cereal or sweets. Have a well rounded breakfast with a healthy carb, protein and fruit (like eggs with sausage, toast and strawberries)
- Start on day one with good work habits, take notes, complete assignments and ask the teacher if you don’t understand something
- Get involved in after school programs to keep yourself active
- Set a realistic goal of reading a certain number of books throughout the school year
- Layout school clothes, pack backpack and make lunch the night before to help the morning go smoothly
